The Only Road to Heaven, Pt. 2 (Matthew 7:13-14)

Here in the text I read you in Matthew chapter 7, the Lord gives an invitation, two doors, two ways, two destinations. As one writer put it, it is make up your mind time on the mountain. Jesus had just given what is commonly known as the Sermon on the Mount which says nothing about its content but only about its location. It could be better named. It is a sermon about which way to heaven. Jesus doesn’t want bouquets for the ethics of His sermon. He doesn’t want kudos for the spiritual insights in His sermon. And He isn’t offering a one-day-a-week experience for those who want to be spiritual. This sermon demands a choice, an absolute choice and a choice that renders finality, a choice that leads to a fixed forever in eternity. -visit www.gty.org Less

DEBT, CHILDBIRTH AND TEACHER-PUPIL RELATIONSHIPS 12 OCTOBER 08
From Everyday Ethics

Governments are desperately trying to get the flow of credit moving again in response to the international crisis, but is more consumption really the answer? And is the credit crunch actually a blessing in disguise? The sociologist and theologian Elaine Storkey thinks so. She joins Bishop Ken Good and the writer Jude Collins to ask what the current crisis says about us and our values. We also report on a professional debate, amongst midwives, about the place of choice in childbirth, and on the growing row about whether teachers should be permitted to begin relationships with children in their care over the age of sixteen. Dr Karen Brennan explains how the current law prohibits such relationships, Seamus Searson, Northern Ireland organiser of the NAS/UWT, argues that the law should be changed, and Claude Knights, director of Kidscape, says the law, if anything, needs to be tightened up. (2008-09-20) – To say «bismi Llâhi r-rahmâni r-rahîm» is a sign of muslims. Any acting without saying this is fruitless. And you have to be dressed as a muslim. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: «man tashabbaha bi qaumin fa huwa minhum.» This means: As you appear, to those people you belong. Also angels are dealing with you according to your appearance. Even wild animals, if you are dressed with muslim clothes, it is forbidden for them to attack you. [Recorded by AbdurRauf Makki] Download Standard Podcast Less

This week talk to John Morgans, who has kept a diary since the age of 12; now, over fifty years on, it is about to be published. As well as giving a personal insight into the second half of the Twentieth Century, the diaries catalogue John Morgans’ journey from schoolboy in the Rhondda in the 1950s to one of the most respected and imaginative Church leaders in Wales. His pioneering work on the Penrhys estate in the Rhondda caught the attention and admiration of people the world over and he and his wife Norah were awarded an OBE for their services to the community. Evaluating your friendships Are you :)? Well, that's not exactly the right question to ask, because God wants more than :) for your life and mine. He wants more than 'more' for us. He wants each of us to experience true and lasting joy. And that can begin today. Throughout this series, we've examined the tools necessary to begin a life of outrageous, contagious joy. In this message, we'll discover how the relationships in our lives can either contribute to or compromise the level of joy we experience. And in turn look at our own actions and motives when it comes to bringing real :) to others. Less
